This bike was built in 2002 and right from the start Bill knew he was going to paint it green just because at the time everyone in the area had a thing against painting motorcycles green because “it’s unlucky.” Bill doesn’t think green is unlucky at all, “it’s the color of money!” Green Steele took Bill about 10 months to build. He started with a Paul Yaffe frame and a Merch 131 engine. Bill mocked up the entire motorcycle and took it back apart to do the body work. He painted the bike PPG Lime Time Green and teamed up with Steve from Wizard Graphics to put airbrushed skulls on the tank and fender. He then put the bike back together with Performance Machine wheels, Yaffee bars and grips, and a front end from American Suspension. The wheels have countersunk valve stems from a street rod. This was the first bike of Bill’s that Michael Lichter of Easyrider photographed. It was featured in V-Twin magazine in November 2002. Also in 2002, it won the C.A.S.I. Cup at the World of Wheels in Washington D.C.
